This is a feature that I don’t use often because I don’t really like to give my phone to anyone, not even for a few minutes. What if you want to use guest mode on LG G2, G2 Mini and LG G3 phones? If your friends keep taking your phone or they keep asking for your phone and you’re tired of making excuses to not give them your phone, then Guest mode might be just what you need. If you own an LG G2, G2 mini or G3, then you can easily set up Guest mode in just a couple of minutes.

What Exactly Is Guest Mode?

Guest mode is exactly what the name suggests and it is a special mode for “guests” or people you want to hide your phone’s data from. For example, if someone keeps taking your phone and reads your messages, then you can set up Guest mode so that the person can no longer read your messages. Therefore, by enabling Guest mode, you’ll help others out by giving them your phone while protecting your personal data at the same time. The way this works is that your phone displays a pattern lock when you try to unlock it and there are two different patterns that can unlock your phone. The first pattern takes you to guest mode where only a few apps are available that you can configure and the second pattern unlocks your phone normally. Therefore, whenever someone asks you for your phone, you can simply unlock it using the first pattern and give it to them in Guest mode.

How To Set Up Guest Mode On LG G2 And G2 Mini

This method focuses on setting up and using Guest mode on the LG G2 and G2 Mini. While setting up Guest mode on the G3 is quite similar, there are some differences in the Settings menu.

Step 1

Make sure that you’re using a pattern lock as your lock screen. Guest mode only works with pattern unlock so you’ll need to set up an unlock pattern on your phone before you can proceed.

Step 2

Tap on Guest mode below the Personal menu in the Settings app.

Step 3

Enable the Allow Guest mode or Use Guest mode option. If you haven’t changed your lock screen to pattern lock, you’ll be asked to change the lock screen first.

Step 4

Tap on the Set pattern option in order to select a custom pattern for unlocking your phone into Guest mode. You’ll need to draw the pattern like you would for a normal pattern lock screen. This pattern will be used for unlocking your phone into Guest mode.

Step 5

Tap on Set apps. You’ll now see a list of apps that are currently available in Guest mode. Tap on the button in the top right hand corner and you’ll see a list of all the apps on your phone with check boxes on the left. For selecting the apps that you want to use in Guest mode, make sure that the check box is ticked. In order to remove an app from Guest mode, simply remove the tick from the check box. Tap on the OK button once you’re done selecting the apps. That’s it! You have successfully set up Guest mode on your phone.

Step 6

In order to unlock your phone in Guest mode, use the pattern that you set up for Guest mode. In order to unlock your phone normally, use your phone’s normal pattern lock.

How To Set Up Guest Mode On LG G3

If you own an LG G3, then follow the steps below in order to enable Guest mode on your phone.

Step 1

Select Guest mode from the General tab in the Settings app.

 Step 3

For selecting apps, tick the check box next to each app and for removing a selected app, remove the tick from the check box.

Step 4

You can also select a custom wallpaper for Guest mode. Tap on the Wallpaper option to select a custom wallpaper.

Step 5

Tap on Lock screen type and select the lock screen that you want to use. You can choose Knock code, Pattern, PIN or Password.

Step 6

Enter the password, PIN, knock code or pattern in order to set up your lock screen. This will be your phone’s normal lock screen and not for Guest mode.

Use the Guest mode pattern, PIN, password or knock code in order to unlock your phone into Guest mode and use your phone’s normal pattern, PIN, password or knock code to unlock your phone normally.

Conclusion

I’ve always been a fan of lock screens on Android and I was really impressed with pattern unlock when it first came out. While Android has done a good job at giving users various lock screen options, I believe LG has done a fantastic job at taking this to a new level with its latest Knock code lock screen and Guest mode. Guest mode is something that I believe was missing from Android devices and it is something that a lot of users needed. If you’re looking to protect some data from others while they’re using your phone, then Guest mode is the perfect solution.
